Preparing to Meet Amazon at a Conference
Amazon’s Supplier Development & Impact (SDI) team attends conferences throughout the year to connect with potential suppliers. Whether you are meeting our team at a booth, participating in a matchmaking session, or recording a Qcast video, preparation is the key to making the most of your time with us.
Confirm Your Certification Is Current
If you are a certified Disadvantaged-Owned Business (DOB), make sure your certification is valid and up-to-date. Amazon recognizes DOB certifications issued by agencies listed at www.amazonsdi.com/global.
Know Amazon’s Sourcing Priorities
Amazon procures across a broad range of categories. To maximize relevance, research which Amazon business units align with your capabilities:
- Global Corporate Procurement (GCP) — Corporate indirect goods and services
- Global Procurement Organization (GPO) — Fulfillment network operations including Equipment, Services, and Site Service Operations
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Networking, Data Center Operations, and Server.
- Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) — Transportation and logistics
Come prepared to articulate how your products or services align with one or more of these areas.

Prepare Your Elevator Pitch
You may have limited time with an Amazon representative. Prepare a concise pitch that covers:
- Who you are and what your company does
- A clear statement of what you are looking for from Amazon (e.g., “I want to supply janitorial services to Amazon fulfillment centers in the Southeast U.S.”).
- Your DOB certification type and certifying agency as relevant.
- The specific products or services you provide.
- Your capacity, geographic reach, and any differentiators.
- Are you currently or have you previously worked with Amazon? If yes, what area and who is your point of contact?
At select conferences, Amazon uses Qcast — a video recording station — to capture short supplier capability videos. These recordings are reviewed by Amazon category managers and sourcing teams after the event, giving your company visibility even with teams that are not physically present at the conference.
Tips for a Great Qcast Recording:
- Know your talking points & be concise. Prepare bullet points (not a script) covering: your company name, what you provide, your certification, your capacity, and why Amazon should consider you.
- Speak naturally and with energy. Authenticity matters more than perfection. Use a conversational tone and speak directly to the camera as if you are speaking to a sourcing manager.
- If you make a mistake, keep going. Pause briefly, then restart the sentence. The recording can be edited.
- Avoid jargon. Speak in plain language that a procurement professional outside your industry would understand.
- Mention specific categories. If you know which Amazon business unit or category your services align with, say so. This helps route your recording to the right team.
What Happens After Your Recording:
Amazon sourcing and category management teams review your Qcast video. If your capabilities match an active or upcoming procurement need, a team member will contact you directly. To proactively engage with Amazon, register with Supplier Connect and follow up with contacts you meet at the conference.
- Visit the Amazon booth early. Lines grow throughout the day. Arriving early gives you more time for a quality interaction.
- Bring business cards and a one-page capability statement. Include your company name, DOB certification as relevant, NAICS codes, key services, geographic coverage, and contact information.
- Ask questions. Our team is there to help you understand how to do business with Amazon. Ask about the registration process and how to stay connected after the event.
- Register on Supplier Connect. If you have not already, ask our team about Amazon’s Supplier Connect portal — the primary platform where Amazon procurement teams search for and evaluate prospective suppliers.
- Follow up within one week. If you received a business card or contact information, send a brief follow-up email referencing your conversation and restating your capabilities.
- Complete your Supplier Connect profile. A complete profile with current certifications, capability descriptions, and contact information increases your visibility to Amazon sourcing teams.
What if my product or service does not match a current Amazon need?
Register on Supplier Connect and keep your profile updated. Amazon’s sourcing needs evolve continuously, and a complete profile ensures you are visible when a relevant opportunity arises.
Will I receive a contract at the conference?
No. Conferences are for introductions and capability assessments. Procurement decisions follow Amazon’s standard sourcing process, which includes competitive evaluation.
